PAI2CSAR330
Regular price Rs.10,250.00 INR Sale price Rs.7,688.00 INR Save Rs.2,562.00 INRPAI2CSAR330
Handwoven Cotton Paithani Saree With Zari Bootis All Over, Zari Border With Lines, Double Pallu In Zari With Peacock Motif.
It’s a handloom Saree in 100% pure Cotton, handwoven in a village of Maharashtra and the craft is called Paithani. It is a 2000 year old weave and the craft of Paithani weaving dates back to the Satvahana Dynasty that ruled between the second century BC and the second century AD. Despite the craft being centuries old, the Paithani sari is still woven in the same traditional manner. It is done with the same tapestry technique as used in the weaving of a Persian rug. Multiple threads of different colours along with gold and silver threads are woven together to form this fascinating piece of fabric / Saree. The weaving process is complex, begins from choosing raw material and precious metals to the final product.
The characteristic feature of a Paithani is its full brocade pallu in Zari with floral & bird motifs in Resham. The origin of Paithani weaving started by using cotton warp and silk only in border and pallu. In between, for a long period Cotton Paithani weaving had gone in hibernation as it had lost its popularity and thus weavers had stopped weaving. During our travels to weaver’s village, in 2016 we happened to chance upon 2 pieces that were huddled up & lying in a corner. We at artisan saga decided to reintroduce these in the market and soon, within a year , it regained its popularity.
This Saree is in light parrot green colour with a woven border of zari. The body of the Saree has woven Zari bootis and the pallu is in brocade with Resham motifs of Peacock pattern, as in Double Pallu. This is the most popular motif, called Parinda, meaning bird, and was introduced by the princess of Hyderabad, Niloufer - King Nizam’s daughter. It is believed that the king loved Paithani weaving and patronized it extensively, he used to make special visit to these villages. It has a running blouse piece attached to it, in the same body colour with border on both sides.
An artsy colour, this green gives a very cool vibe and in the world of art, will not go unnoticed. Cotton sarees are in vogue and this drape especially has a magnetic pull and is a conversation starter. Wear it to parties and see the magic unfold. It is an asset for keeps.

Cotton Patola Saree
PAT1CSAR403
Regular price Rs.9,000.00 INR Sale price Rs.6,750.00 INR Save Rs.2,250.00 INRPAT1CSAR403
Handwoven Cotton Patola Saree In Single Ikat From Rajkot With Border, Pallu And Attached Blouse Piece In Contrast Colour.
This is an olive green colour 100% pure Cotton Patola handloom Saree in Ikat weave, handwoven in Gujrat villages. As soft as muslin, using finest of cottons, these ikats are woven in Gujrat and are known as single ikat Rajkot Patolas. In Gujrat Patolas the pattern is woven in weft as opposed to ikats of Orissa & Andhra (Pochampully) where the design is created in warp. This is what differentiates them from other ikats. Branded as Rajkot Patolas in single Ikat, these are more complex and intricate to weave and takes much longer. In these Sarees, there’s no wrong side or back side as both sides are identical and can be draped from either side as top & bottom borders are also identical, running all across.
The body of the Saree is woven in olive green colour in a design called Chandrakala, in an intricate jaal. The border is in contrast colour, mango orange and has floral motif running along its length followed by a secondary border which has multiple bright coloured lines on it forming stripes. The pallu also is in same contrast colour with the border pattern being repeated as separate bands. The blouse piece is attached and is plain, in same contrast colour as the border with secondary border of lines running on two sides of the blouse piece.
Stylish, trendy and unique. That’s how I’ll describe this Cotton Patola Saree. A great pick for your ethinic eclectic wardrobe, this drape cannot be missed. It is traditional yet looks contemporary when donned. Pair it with stylish blouses and accessories and experience its versatile look.

The body design is in an intricate jaal of traditional floral pattern. It has a primary border, in contrast colour orange with floral motif and a secondary border with Zari & a contrast colour selvedge, magenta. The pallu has a multicoloured pattern woven intricately in the form of separate bands, a continuation of the border design. The blouse piece is attached and is plain with Zari interwoven in the weft, with same secondary border with Zari & contrast colour selvedge running on two sides of the blouse piece.
100% pure Cotton with Zari handloom Saree, called a Cotton Tissue Saree in Single Ikat Rajkot Patola from villages of Gujrat. Handwoven with pure Cotton warp & weft along with Zari in the weft, this is a unique creation. An artist always aspires to create something new & different. This is one such experiment that has grown in popularity due to our pioneering efforts.
The use of Tissue has given a nice sheen to otherwise casual Cotton Patolas and this has made them quite wearable for parties and other semi formal occasions. They drape well, they wear well, they fall well and they stay well. They don’t get crushed after a long day at work or gathering. As light as feather, these are so cool and comfortable in excessive heat, they don’t stick either. They have a soft texture, you won’t feel the roughness of Zari on your skin, they don’t hurt or bite or create a rash. These really are an ideal choice for an extra sensitive skin.
A magnificent drape, stylish and glamorous, lightweight, comfortable and breezy. Difficult to find all these attributes in one singe drape and yet this is what Cotton Tissue Patola is all about. It is a fashion statement that is wearable at all times and on all occasions.
